On 20th May 2010 the new Government suspended Home Information Packs. But Energy Performance Certificates are still a requirement and must be commissioned, albeit not necessarily in place, at the point that you first market your property for sale. An EPC will confirm how energy efficient your home is and will provide a current rating and an aspirational grading so that you, or your prospective purchaser, can ascertain the likely level of improved energy efficiency possible. Improved loft and cavity wall insulation; double glazing; low emmission light bulbs and modern central heating boilers will all assist.
