Reasons to love Dudley

Browsing for your local Dudley Estate Agent? Emoov can sell your property. Dudley is a large market town situated in the West Midlands, in close proximity to Birmingham and Wolverhampton. Its population is currently just below 200,000.
Culture in Dudley
Dudley has been traditionally known as a market town with an industrial past. These days, however, it is a largely residential area recognised for its shopping and leisure facilities. That is not to say its residents are not proud of the area's history – there are several museums celebrating Dudley's Black Country and industrial heritage. Until 2011, Dudley was home to JB's nightclub, which hosted early gigs by a number of globally-renowned bands, including U2 and Dire Straits.
Things to do in Dudley
Alongside the shopping and leisure facilities mentioned above, for us there are three key attractions in Dudley. Thought to be built four years after the Battle of Hastings, Dudley Castle is a fantastic place to visit. The Castle's ruins and its lovely grounds are now complemented by a visitor's centre, which was opened in 1994.
Dudley Zoo, meanwhile, which is located within the grounds of Dudley Castle, presents the opportunity for an action-packed family day out. Here you will find all your favourites from the animal kingdom. Our particular favourites include the Amur tiger, Asiatic lion and Colombian black spider monkey. And lastly, one of the aforementioned museums, the Black Country Living Museum, is a huge open air site, comprising former industrial land and artefacts including coal pits, railway goods and traditional kilns.
Student Life in Dudley
In the past, the town housed one of the University of Wolverhampton's campuses. However, that building is now part of the rapidly-expanding Dudley College, the area's premier higher education centre. Although there is no formal university presence in Dudley these days, many students studying at the various Birmingham and Midlands establishments choose to live here due to its affordable accommodation options and convenient commute.
Buying in Dudley
The current average property value in Dudley makes the area one of the most affordable in the Midlands. Residents and recent buyers reap the rewards of a buoyant property market. As well as an increased number of young professionals moving here in recent times, families will always be attracted to Dudley thanks to the area's range of good schools and varied selection of different sized homes.
