Greene & Co, the subject of a 2008 fly-on-the wall insight into London estate agency, have come under the spotlight for a rather more questionable reason this week.
Six of their Maida Vale office staff have been prosecuted for illegally obtaining local parking permits as part of what is said to be a practice that is ‘company policy’.
The scam came to light when Westminster City council checked the address details of the employees and found that they had lied about living in the borough in order to obtain cheap permits. Each were fined between £700.00 and £2,200 for the offences.
Greene and Co itself have apparently refused to comment on the issue and, importantly, the validity of their staff’s claim that the practice of using for sale addresses to obtain permits by deception was an ‘edict from on high’.
The company describes itself on its website as ‘totally honest and transparent’. They are NAEA members.
