Gross mortgage lending was £13.4 billion this August, up TEN PERCENT on August 2010.

The Council of Mortgage Lenders says that this is the highest monthly total since July 2009.

This figure represents the lending of 94% of all residential mortgage providing banks and building societies nationally and is therefore a significant barometer to demonstrating activity within the UK property market.
