Where are the most family friendly places to live, you ask? Well here’s the top 20, according to research carried out by Family Investments the child savings experts.
1. Winkleigh, Devon
2. South Petherton, Somerset
3. Galgate, Lancashire
4. Eaglescliffe, Stockton on Tees
5. Bromley Cross, Bolton
6. Shebbear, Devon
7. Great Ayton, North Yorkshire
8. Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands
9. Moor Row, Cumbria
The criteria used is based upon six elements: Key Stage 2 scores; % Early Years Care ranked oustanding; Crime per capita; Average 2 bedroom property price; Average salary and Fertility rate (!).
The mix of scores resulting, statistically at least, paints a particularly rosy picture for the South West and the North West. But the closes the South East gets to a look in is Sutton, London in 20th position.
So despite a relatively buoyant local economy, strong house prices and the ‘London’ effect usually catapulting the Home Counties as being the most desirable UK addresses, it seems that money really doesn’t buy happiness?
