The Government is sticking to its proposal to ban landlords from renting properties that have an energy rating less than an ‘E’.

From 2018 the Department of Energy and Climate Change will impose the ruling on all buy to let properties that are not up to scratch in so far as insulation efficiency.

And in fact the deadline could be pulled forward to 2016 further to a statement by minister Lord Marland recently which said ‘If we do not see reasonable progress (in improving energy efficiency in rental properties) we could consider acting earlier’.
