Tomorrow, May 16th, is the Nuclear Mud Run in Brentwood, Essex. Brentwood also happens to be the base of eMoov.co.uk and we thought it was a great opportunity to raise some money for charity and cull some of our staff members in the process. Everyone’s a winner.
We put the word out to both our London and Essex offices, asking if anyone would like to enter on the false pretence it is a family fun day out. The great response received will see as many 14 eMoov employees, from across five different departments, line up together to tackle the 6km obstacle course.
We would like to say they have been training hard in preparation, but we wouldn’t want to mislead anyone with false statements. Although a number of them did attend a last minute boot camp during the week, it seems to have spread an air of panic amongst the ranks rather than a sense of preparation.
Regardless of their current physical condition, moods remain optimistic. For a group of people that work with an emphasis on team cohesion day in, day out, it will probably take more than a bit of mud to break them.
Founder and CEO of eMoov.co.uk, Russell Quirk, commented:
“I was “lucky” enough to run in the Mud Run last year. So this year I thought why not give the opportunity to some other “lucky” members of the eMoov team. These guys are no strangers to hard work so I’m quietly confident about their chances of making it round the course in one piece.
This said we have been holding interviews during the week on the off chance that one or two don’t return, so if we need replacements by Monday we’re covered.
We’re willing to overlook this small inconvenience as all the money raised will be going to an extremely worthy cause. Centrepoint is the UK’s leading youth homeless charity giving homeless young people in London and the north of England a better and brighter future.
In my opinion that’s worth a couple of eMoover’s.”
