The Playboy Mansion is up for sale, but with a catch

Jan 11, 2016

When it comes to mansions there is one like no other, the Playboy Mansion. However, this mansion isn’t necessarily recognised for its stunning features, lush gardens or spacious bedrooms, but what goes on inside it.

Home the infamous Hugh Hefner, The Playboy Mansion is going up for sale and is said to be getting listed over the next month. Playboy Enterprises are setting the bar high by wanting at least $200 million (£138 million) for it. However, it seems this goal could be a little unrealistic as gossip website TMZ has described the home as a “tear-down”, with most of its value coming from the acreage.

Properties in the surrounding area have recently gone for around the $60 million mark, however, the history of the mansions is said to bump up the estimate between $80 million and $90 million.

Built in 1927, the six acre Holmby Hills estate, is in a prime location, just a stone’s throw away from Beverly Hills. However, there is one rather large condition written into the small print of the sale. 89 year old Hefner must be given a life state by whoever buys the property, meaning he can see out the rest of his days at the mansion until he passes away.

I wonder what it would be like to have Hugh Hefner as a roomie…
