Industry trade body, NAEA, published research yesterday into the current state of the property market having surveyed and researched its thousands of member branches.

The findings showed:

The number of homes available rose 11% to 40 per branch, up from 37 per branch in May last year. This demonstrates that the market is getting back to normality and picking up the pace after the election smoke screen.

However, the election uncertainty certainly took its toll with 77% of homes sold at below asking price, up from 72% in April.

The report also showed that the number of prospective buyers registering with estate agents fell from 381 people per branch in April to 350 in May. This is further evidence that the traditional sector is declining and the expensive overhead of the high street office is becoming more and more obsolete.

But most importantly, the NAEA said that only 2% of properties sold for over the asking price nationally during the month of June.
