Our own Russell Quirk is going to the streets for the night of October 30th to raise awareness on the homelessness crisis plaguing the UK. In the CEO Sleepout, Russell is trading in his bed for the streets to have a better understanding what it is like to not have a home. He aims to raise £2000 to put towards improving the situation for homeless people who struggle to find a place to lay their head for the night.
As an entrepreneur and founder of an online estate agency, housing is Russell’s expertise. In doing this challenge, he aims to discuss the urgent need to solve the housing crisis – the prices are rising without having the housing stock available. Addressing and eliminating homelessness across the UK is the starting point that will eventually lead to the construction of more homes give people a roof over their heads.
When it comes to housing, homelessness must first and foremost be tackled followed by improvements in the housing sector to provide homes for all people. The lack of available housing is only getting worse and if it continues at the same rate, more people will be living without a place to call home.
I am delighted to have the chance to make a difference regardless of how small and hope it will help raise awareness of the issue so more people feel compelled to do the same.Russell Quirk
