Emoov feature at Future PropTech 2018

May 3, 2018

On Wednesday 2nd May the best and brightest of the PropTech world descended on the Business Design Centre in London for the world’s number one PropTech event, Future PropTech 2018.

As the most established and leading global event dedicated to technology innovation and digital transformation in the property sector, the event attracted over 1,200 delegates from every part of the property sector including some of the leading companies in real estate, agents, brokers, tech V.C’s, media and investors such as Simon Murdoch, Faisal Butt and Pi Labs.

So, in our mission to revolutionise the UK estate agency sector, it made sense that the Emoov CEO, Russell Quirk, headed down to the event with some of the Emoov Product Team, to see how the world of PropTech could further improve our customer offering.

But we weren’t just there to enjoy the event as the Emoov CEO was featuring on one of the main stages in a panel discussion.

Throughout the day there was a lot to see and the Innovation, Commercial and Residential Stages were jam-packed with speakers covering everything from driverless cars and property, responsive cities, solving the housing crisis through innovation and much much more.

One cool piece of tech our Product Team picked up on was from the guys at RestB.AI. They’ve developed a tool that can recognise the key features of a property just by uploading a photo of each room, potentially waving goodbye to the strenuous task of estate agents having to list main features when putting a property online.

Another area with plenty of digital disruption was the letting sector. Companies such as Canopy are looking to improve what is arguably the worst part of the UK property sector, through streamlining the process with automated referencing and tenant scoring.

But the clear highlight of the day, was when our CEO Russell took to the Residential Stage along with Debbie Franklin of the Andrews Property Group, Jonathan Werth of LiFE Residential and Kristjan Byfield from the Depositary to talk about how each of their agencies is benefitting from PropTech.

It was interesting to see how smaller high-street style agencies were integrating elements of third-party technology to improve their productivity and customer offering, as well as hearing from Russell on the other end of the scale and how we build all of our tech in-house and are constantly improving it.

One thing Russell highlighted that the others agreed on was that technology can only do so much and there are areas of the home selling process that still need human guidance, such as the offers and progression stage.

Russell also touched on the importance of reviews in the consumer decision-making process but highlighted how inconsistent reviews across various platforms can suggest a company gaming their customer service level. He concluded that in the end, integrity will win through and enduring a few honest bad reviews is much better than hiding them or orchestrating a lot of good reviews.

But as the event ended, the night was only just beginning as the Emoov team then moved onto the UK PropTech Awards, where we were up for “Best Marketing Campaign” – check out how we did here.
