Property Description

This chocolate box Grade II Listed stone and thatched detached country cottage, sits in the charming village of Nevill Holt, surrounded by some of south east Leicestershire’s stunning panoramic views.

Peace and tranquility

Our Norfolk Reed Thatch Cottage is built of ironstone, in Nevill Holt, which is surrounded by panoramic views over looking the Welland Valley. The garden is very private, catching all day sun, hosting a wealth of perennial planting and a good size lawn to enjoy. This accesses the stone double garage with a spacious office set above with stunning views front and back.

This was a former bakery and is believed to date back to circa 1700, we have sympathetically refurbished it when purchased around 2000 keeping the original character in tact.

The frontage has a porch taking you through to either the atmospheric dining room or the spacious sitting room with a stone fireplace, wooden window seat with a stunning outlook over the church and Nevill Holt Hall. The dining room has a stone inglenook fireplace with a clear view log burner, leaded windows with oak window seat and original quarry tiled flooring. Central to the home is a spacious hallway to stable door leading to the garden (with planning for a porch in place) cited to the left is a fitted cloakroom with a downstairs lavatory. There is a good size living breakfast kitchen with a four door Aga set within a inglenook, windows facing to the front and back, hand made pine built-in cupboards inset with a twin Belfast sink. At the rear is a utility room as well as a walk-in pantry with it's original wide slate shelf.

On the upper floor off a central landing is a good sized bedroom with an open fireplace and charming window overlooking the rear garden with wooden shutters overlooking the garden. There are 2 further double bedrooms, both having original cupboards for ample storage, and bedroom 3 having the original bread proving ovens. There is a family bathroom with fired earth tiling and a Victorian style suite and a roll edged bath made bespoke by the Albion Bath Company.
